Oilers eke out a close one against the Kings

McDavid, Draisaitl provide offense in home win

Ryan nets shootout winner

EDMONTON, AB - Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist and Derek Ryan had the shootout winner as the Edmonton Oilers edged the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 on Monday night.

Leon Draisaitl also scored for the Oilers (22-16-3), who have won three straight games.

Adrian Kempe and Anze Kopitar scored for the Kings (19-17-6), who have lost three straight.

Mike Smith made 29 saves for the Oilers, while Pheonix Copley stopped 28 shots for the Kings.

The Oilers took a 1-0 lead on McDavid's goal at 12:24 of the first period. McDavid took a pass from Draisaitl and beat Copley with a wrist shot from the slot.

The Kings tied it up at 1-1 on Kempe's goal at 19:04 of the first period. Kempe took a pass from Kevin Fiala and beat Smith with a wrist shot from the left circle.

The Oilers regained the lead at 10:30 of the second period on Draisaitl's goal. Draisaitl took a pass from McDavid and beat Copley with a wrist shot from the right circle.

The Kings tied it up at 2-2 on Kopitar's goal at 16:20 of the second period. Kopitar took a pass from Fiala and beat Smith with a wrist shot from the slot.

The game went to overtime, but neither team could score. In the shootout, Ryan scored the only goal to give the Oilers the win.
