Cameron and Rosalie Lalonde, two wheelchair basketball players from Regina, have been selected to represent Canada at the Tokyo Paralympics this summer.

The Lalondes helped Canada to a bronze medal at the 2019 Parapan American Games in Lima, Peru, and Cameron was named to the tournament all-star team.

Rosalie Lalonde says she is "honored and excited" to represent Canada at the Paralympics. "It's a dream come true," she said.

Cameron Lalonde says he is "looking forward to the challenge" of competing at the Paralympics. "It's going to be a tough tournament, but I'm confident that we can do well," he said.

The Lalondes are both members of the Regina Roughriders wheelchair basketball team. Cameron has been playing wheelchair basketball for 15 years, while Rosalie has been playing for 10 years.

The Lalondes credit the Regina wheelchair basketball community with helping them achieve their dreams. "We have a great group of athletes and coaches in Regina who have always supported us," said Cameron.

The Tokyo Paralympics will be held from August 24 to September 5, 2021.
